In other news, I am yucky gross sneezing honking SICK. With the flu. I haven’t had the flu in four years!
Recently (pre-flu) I was talking to one of my writer friends about, well, other writers. We worry about them because they tend to put their work above everything else. Sick? Keep writing. Family crisis? Keep writing. Child graduating from school/moving to a new country/insert other huge life transitions? Keep writing!!!
(There is definitely something to discuss here about how people who make art do not, as a rule, receive the financial support they need from this society to do that art. So if you want to do it, you sometimes have to cram it into every nook and cranny of the day alongside day jobs, raising family, taking care of elderly folk, etc. But then if you are making a living doing the art, there is this haunting, terrible feeling that ghostly hounds are on your heels and your financial independence might be taken away from you at any moment, so you must keep making the art constantly and never stop.)
Yeah, lots to unpack there.
Anyway, I am going to go take my own advice and actually rest my body. See you in a few days!
