Today I am thinking about new years and how we enter them. Last year I approached 2022 with strong expectations that led to less clarity than I’d hoped. My approach to 2023 is softer—more like imaginings than anticipations. I don’t think life is a road or a circle; it’s a labyrinth, that most sacred and most mysterious of paths. Also, sometimes the most maddening!
A Prayer for the New Year
May the seeds that you planted in the past continue to germinate May the things that are germinating blossom into the fullness of life May all that is heavy soften and release its weight from your shoulders May you smile more this year May life unravel like a sweet road, tangling back upon itself, dancing its way forward May you be with the people you love May you receive exactly what you need right now May you be dazzled by visions and murmurations from within, and may you have the courage to act on them May you be cared for May you embrace yourself--your humanity, your you-ness May you grant yourself the time, care and nurturance that you need May you slow to the pace of your life May your moments of difficulty be gentled May light come to guide you through the darkest turns of the labyrinth And may your times of joy spill over, an overflowing cup that nourishes it all.
